Instructor: Mr. Samir Hasan
Born and raised in Bethlehem, Palestine, Samir Hasan developed a deep appreciation for Dabka from a young age, inspired by family gatherings, community celebrations, and a love for rhythm and movement. He is a passionate and skilled Dabka leader and instructor dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich cultural heritage of this traditional Levantine dance. With over 20 years of experience, he has mastered various Dabka styles, including Lebanese, Palestinian, Syrian, and Jordanian variations.
Over the years, he trained with renowned Dabka troupes in Palestine, formed his first Dabka group in Canada, and his current group in Atlanta, Georgia. Samir honed his skills in both choreography and instruction.
As an instructor, Samir brings an energetic and engaging teaching style that makes Dabka accessible to dancers of all levels. Whether leading beginners in mastering the foundational steps or refining the techniques of advanced dancers, he fosters an environment of joy, teamwork, and cultural pride. As a dynamic Dabka leader, he brings passion while guiding his group with precision, energy, and a deep appreciation for preserving the dance’s cultural roots while uniting performers in rhythmic harmony.
Beyond dance instruction, Samir is an advocate for cultural preservation, frequently organizing performances, workshops, and community events that celebrate Middle Eastern traditions. Through Dabka, he aims to connect people to their heritage, build community, and promote cultural appreciation.
Currently, Samir leads his Dabka group, Al Fursan, and holds Dabka classes at Alif Institute. He is available for workshops, private lessons, and special event performances. Whether on the dance floor or the stage, his mission remains the same: to inspire, educate, and keep the spirit of Dabka alive for generations to come.
