15 1-hour virtual sessions: Wednesdays, 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Get the best of both worlds! This class adds an extra one-hour virtual session on Wednesday evenings to our normal Sunday in-person instruction. In the virtual hour, students will practice what they’ve learned on Sunday in class. The advantage of this extra virtual hour is to give students the opportunity to practice (application & proficiency) with a group of students of the same level. The main focus of the group will be on reading, writing, and conversation. The hybrid will add 15 hours of online practice to the 22.5 hours of in-person Sunday class.

  • No class on September 4, October 9, and November 27.
  • The entire Fall/Winter semester for HYBRID Sunday classes is 15 sessions and 37.5 hours:  22.5 hours of instruction in-person and 15 hours of virtual practice/application.
  • During the online sessions, students will practice what they’ve learned in class (application & proficiency) with a group of students of the same level. The main focus of the group will be on reading, writing, and conversation.

NEW!!!  KALLIMNI ARABI  –  كَلِّمْني عَرَبي
Sunday classes in North Fulton

Socio-Cultural Arabic Language for Heritage Speakers (High School & College-aged Students)
Sundays, 10 am – 11:30 am
September 11 to December 18
In-person location: 285 S Main St, Alpharetta, GA 30009
13 sessions, 1.5 hours
Total hours per semester: 19.5 hours

Were you born in the US to Arabic-speaking parents or grandparents or were you born ‘back home’ but came to the US at a young age? If so, you are a heritage speaker. As heritage speakers, we sometimes don’t know exactly how or what to say, or how to respond in specific social scenarios. These communication breakdowns, embarrassing moments, and cultural misunderstandings can be very frustrating. Traditional Arabic language classes don’t teach you how to communicate with the taxi driver or your grandparents in their local day-to-day dialect.

If you can relate to this scenario, there is a class for you now! Sign up and learn verbal and non-verbal communication skills in natural social-cultural settings. The course is conducted in Arabic and English and incorporates gestures, idiomatic expressions, grammar exercises, speaking activities, homework, community-based experiential learning, and much more.

Please note that any registration after Thursday, August 18 will not qualify for sibling discounts.
