In his first monograph, Nabil Mousa sets out to look at the production of an artist who was born in the Islamic world but lived in a Christian and now resides and works in the United States. Mousa’s work comes from Islamic culture and reflects on multiple issues such as personal freedom, identity, beauty, fear, joy, traditions, religion, politics, and human rights. This publication emphasizes the extraordinary diversity of Mousa’s work, which derives from what many regard as being a simple homogeneous culture. Mousa’s artistic and visual diversity comes from his unique identity and faith. As an artist he draws from a wellspring of inspiration based on his cultural heritage. Whether by painting or sculpture, his work is a deep expression of his concepts of justice and equality.

“Like a deftly but insistently Socratic teacher, Mousa poses questions that vigorously challenge the recipient to respond with concomitant passion.”

–Charles A. Riley II, PhD
